The Oxford Gargoyles are a jazz a cappella group who were founded in 1998. Though based in the jazz songbook, their repertoire also extends to pop, soul and funk, whilst performing concerts and gigs in black-tie.

Over the last decade the Gargoyles have established themselves as one of the UK’s finest young a cappella groups, performing everywhere from college balls in Oxford to the Savoy Hotel and the Ministry of Defence. In 2007, they won the European category of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA), and competed in the final at New York’s Lincoln Center.

2010's highlights included opening for the Real Group and the Swingle Singers at King's Place in London and winning Voice Festival UK 2010 overall. During the Easter Vacation in 2012 the group visited the East Coast of America for their annual tour. The group performed in New York, Boston, New Haven and Princeton.

They have had seven successful years at the Edinburgh Fringe and will be returning August 2013 for what they hope will their best year yet! Most recently, the 2012 group were crowned the Open Category Choir of the Year Winners, performing to an audience of more than 2000 people in the Royal Festival Hall, London, in the televised final of the competition.
